Trip Overview

Your 6-day safari offers a mix of culture, history, and local life. You spend time at Olpapongi, experiencing the traditions of the Maasai people. In Arusha City, you enjoy the vibrant streets and local markets. At Olduvai Gorge, you learn about ancient human history, and in Karatu Village, you get a glimpse of rural Tanzanian life.

Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport.

Upon your arrival at the airport, our friendly Tansafari Tours team will be there to warmly welcome you and assist with your luggage. You’ll then be transferred to your hotel, where you can settle in and refresh after your journey. Your guide will be available to answer any questions and provide a brief overview of the itinerary to ensure you’re ready for the exciting days to come.

Day 2:Olpopongi Cultural Village visit.

You will visit Olpopongi Maasai Cultural Village, where you will learn about the traditions and daily life of the Maasai people. You will explore their traditional huts, listen to stories about their history and customs, and enjoy a traditional Maasai lunch. The visit gives you a chance to experience their way of life and understand their culture before returning to your accommodation in the evening.

Day 3:Arusha City Tour and Local food Experience.

You will explore the city of Arusha, starting with a visit to the Arusha Declaration Monument, a symbol of Tanzania’s political history. Next, you will head to the Cultural Heritage Centre, where you can see the unique art, crafts, and cultural exhibits.

Along the way, you will try local food scene, and trying popular dishes like pilau, nyamachoma (grilled meat), and a variety of street snacks. This day combines history, culture, and culinary delights, giving you an authentic Arusha experience before returning to your accommodation.

Day 4:Olduvai Gorge

You will visit Olduvai Gorge, one of the world’s most significant archaeological sites, often referred to as the “Cradle of Mankind.” Here, you will learn about the groundbreaking discoveries of early human fossils made by the Leakey family and explore the museum showcasing artifacts and exhibits detailing human evolution. A guided tour of the gorge will give you insights into its history and importance, making this a truly enriching experience before continuing with your journey.

Day 5:Karatu Village visit

You will spend the day in Karatu, experiencing the local culture and traditions. Activities include visiting a local farm to learn about traditional farming techniques, exploring a coffee plantation to see how coffee is grown and processed, and interacting with the vibrant local community. You will also have the chance to visit a traditional Iraqw household, where you can learn about their architecture, music, and crafts. This cultural experience offers a unique opportunity to connect with the people of Karatu and gain insights into their way of life.

Day 6: Departure

On the final day of your journey, you will be transferred from your hotel to the airport for your departure. Our team will assist with your luggage and ensure a smooth transfer, marking the end of your unforgettable experience in Tanzania. Safe travels and we hope to welcome you again soon!
