Highlights In the Ugalla National National Park

🗺️ Overview of the Ugalla River National Park

Ugalla River National Park is a remote and peaceful park located in western Tanzania. It covers a large area of miombo woodlands, swamps, and floodplains, making it rich in both landscapes and wildlife. The park is named after the life-giving Ugalla River, which flows through its heart and plays a key role in the survival of the area’s wildlife, especially during the dry season. This river eventually drains into Lake Tanganyika, Africa’s second-deepest lake.

Ugalla is one of the less-visited parks in Tanzania, making it a great choice for travelers looking for a quiet and untouched safari experience. Its floodplains attract a variety of animals such as elephants, lions, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, and the rare sitatunga antelope, which is known for living in swampy areas.

The park is also a haven for birds, with over 400 species recorded, making it a great spot for bird watching. During certain times of the year, the Ugalla River allows for boat safaris, offering a different and relaxing way to explore the park.

Ugalla River National Park offers a raw, wild, and authentic side of Tanzania that many travelers have yet to discover.
