Trip Overview

This 9-day safari takes you through Tanzania’s rich culture and history. You’ll explore Maasai traditions at Olpopongi Cultural Village, enjoy a coffee tour in Tengeru, and meet the Datoga and Hadzabe tribes at Lake Eyasi. In Karatu, you’ll experience local life before flying to Zanzibar, where you’ll discover Stone Town, spice farms, and Prison Island. It’s a journey filled with cultural insights and unforgettable experiences.

Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport.

Upon arrival in Tanzania, you will be warmly welcomed by our team at the airport. After a brief introduction and assistance with your luggage, you’ll be transferred to your hotel for check-in. You will relax and unwind after your journey, immersing yourself in the serenity of your surroundings. If time permits, you may opt for a short walk around the area or enjoy a leisurely evening at your accommodation, preparing for the incredible cultural adventure that awaits you

Day 2:Olpopongi Cultural Village visit.

You will visit Olpopongi Cultural Village, a traditional Maasai village. Here, you’ll enjoy a warm welcome from the Maasai community and immerse yourself in their way of life. You’ll have the opportunity to learn about their culture, traditions, and daily activities through interactive experiences and storytelling. A highlight of the day is the traditional Maasai lunch, prepared with authentic flavors and served in the village. This visit offers you a genuine glimpse into the Maasai way of life and a chance to connect with their rich heritage.

Day 3:Tengeru Cultural Program

Today you will head to Tengeru for an enriching cultural experience. Start with a coffee tour, where you’ll learn about the journey of coffee from bean to cup, participate in traditional coffee roasting, and savor freshly brewed coffee. Next, you will enjoy a peaceful canoeing experience on Lake Duluti, surrounded by lush greenery and stunning views. For a  lunch you will have traditional lunch  prepared with fresh ingredients. This program offers you a blend of cultural discovery, natural beauty, and a taste of authentic Tanzanian cuisine.

Day 4:Visit Dattoga and Hadzabe at Lake Eyasi

You will head to explore  two distinct tribes which , the Datoga and Hadzabe, each offering a unique perspective on traditional Tanzanian culture. Time spent with the Datoga reveals their exceptional metalworking skills and the customs that define their way of life. A visit to the Hadzabe tribe provides a glimpse into the lives of one of the last hunter-gatherer communities, showcasing their hunting techniques, foraging methods, and deep connection to the natural world. This cultural immersion highlights the diversity and resilience of these remarkable communities.

Day 5:Karatu Village visit

Your day will be at  Karatu Village, where you will experience the daily life and traditions of the local community. As you explore the village, you’ll have the chance to interact with residents, learn about their customs, and observe activities like farming and crafting. The visit also includes a stop at the  Karatu market, where you can see colorful  fresh produce of vegetables and fruits, handcrafted goods, and daily trade in action. It’s a meaningful experience that highlights the rich cultural heritage and lively spirit of the Karatu community.

Day 6: Flight to Zanzibar

Your day begins with a drive back to Arusha, where you will catch your domestic flight to Zanzibar. Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed and transferred to your accommodation, where you can relax and soak in the tropical atmosphere as you prepare for the next cultural adventure of your journey.

Day 7: Stone town and Spice Tour.

Your cultural adventure continues with a visit to Stone Town, where you will explore the streets, historical buildings, and markets of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Later, you will head to a spice farm to learn about Zanzibar’s rich history of spice production. You will see, smell, and taste a variety of spices and learn how they are grown and used. This day offers a deeper understanding of Zanzibar’s culture and history.

Day 8:Prison Island

On this day, you will visit Prison Island, a small island just off the coast of Zanzibar. Known for its historical significance, the island was once used as a quarantine station and prison. During the tour, you will also have the chance to see the giant tortoises that inhabit the island, some of which are over a century old. The visit combines history, nature, and beautiful coastal views, making it a memorable experience for you.

Day 9: Departure.

After an enriching cultural experience in Tanzania and Zanzibar , your tour will now come to an end. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have some time to relax at your accommodation or explore Zanzibar at your own pace before being transferred to the airport. As your adventure comes to an end, you leave with unforgettable memories of Tanzania’s culture, history, and natural beauty.
