Nyerere National Park, previously known as Selous Game reserve, is  Tanzania’s Largest  most diverse protected areas. It is renamed in honor of Tanzania’s first president, Julius Nyerere. The park has a total area of approximately 30,000Km2    .The Park has Rufiji River, which flows through the park, is a vital feature, supporting a variety of ecosystems and offering opportunities for unique boat safaris.

The park is home for the endangered African wild dog, offering rare sightings of these elusive predators. It is also home elephant populations, which teems with hippos and Nile crocodiles often seen along the Rufiji River.
