4-Day Tanzania Express Safari

Trip Overview

This short safari is the perfect solution if you are looking for an exciting and authentic safari experience, but are either pressed for time or are not keen on spending many days in a car. You will visit two of northern Tanzania’s famous national parks:

  • Tarangire, famous for its huge elephant herds – reportedly one of the largest populations in the world – and its magnificent baobab trees, many of which are said to be more than 1,000 years old!; and
  • The Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to the Big Five.

For the few days you will spend with us, you will leave Tanzania with unforgettable memories!

DAY 1: ArrivAL

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by your Tansafari-Tours driver-guide, who will transfer you to your hotel in Arusha and brief you about your safari.

DAY 2: Arusha – Tarangire National Park

Your driver-guide will meet you at your hotel after breakfast and, together, you will head to Tarangire National Park with packed lunches for the first game viewing of your Tanzanian safari.

There is no better place to enjoy a peaceful authentic safari atmosphere than in Tarangire. In addition to a lot of elephants, you have good chances of seeing zebras, lesser kudus, elands, generuks, and lions. Late afternoon, after a great day in the wild, you will head to your overnight accommodation in Karatu.

DAY 3: Karatu – Ngorongoro Crater

Enjoy an early breakfast and then head to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where you will drive up to the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater and then descend the 600 meters (approximately 2,000 feet) into the crater floor for what promises to be an exciting day of wildlife encounters. Explore the forest areas inhabited by monkeys and elephants; the lake area, where you may see the flamingos; and the open savannah, where the lions hunt for food. If you are very lucky, you might even have the chance to see the elusive black rhino! You will stop for picnic lunch will at the hippo pool inside the crater. Late afternoon, head back to your accommodation in Karatu for dinner and overnight.

DAY 4: Karatu – Arusha – Airport

Today will be a leisurely day. After breakfast, we will visit the famous wood carvings of the Makonde tribe, who were originally from southeastern Tanzania and northern Mozambique. According to a Makonde myth, the mother of the Makonde tribe was originally a wood carving that came to life! Afterwards, we will head back to Arusha and onward to the airport for your return trip home or other destination.
