Trip Overview
Are you dying to go on safari, but don’t have a lot of free time available? This five-day itinerary is the perfect duration to discover some of the true beauties of Tanzania without having to rush. You will visit three of northern Tanzania’s most famous national parks: Tarangire, Lake Manyara, and the Ngorongoro Crater.

DAY 1: Arrival
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by your Tansafari-Tours driver-guide, who will transfer you to your hotel in Arusha and brief you about your safari.
DAY 2: Arusha – Tarangire National Park
Your driver-guide will meet you at your hotel after breakfast and, together, you will head to Tarangire National Park with packed lunches for the first game viewing of your Tanzanian safari. There is no better place to enjoy a peaceful authentic safari atmosphere than in Tarangire, famous for its huge elephant herds and towering baobab trees. The park is teeming with wildlife, and you will have good chances of seeing zebras, lesser kudus, elands, generuks, and lions. Late afternoon, after a great day in the wild, you will head to your accommodation in Karatu for dinner and overnight.
DAY 3: Karatu – Ngorongoro Crater
Today you will be visiting one of northern Tanzania’s main attractions, the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After an early breakfast, you will drive up to the crater rim, where you will have some spectacular views. You will then descend the 600 meters (approximately 2,000 feet) into the crater floor for what promises to be an exciting day of wildlife encounters. Explore the forest areas inhabited by monkeys and elephants; the lake area, where you may see flamingos; and the open savannah, where the lions hunt for food. If you are very lucky, you might even have the chance to see the elusive black rhino! You will stop for a picnic lunch will at the hippo pool inside the crater. Late afternoon, return to your accommodation in Karatu for dinner and overnight.
DAY 4: Karatu – Lake Manyara National Park
This morning, you will drive to Lake Manyara National Park for the last game viewing of this safari. Described by the famous American writer Ernest Hemingway as “the loveliest I had seen in Africa,” this small and very beautiful park has a tremendous diversity of habitats. It is also rich in wildlife, with an incredible number of baboons and more than 400 recorded species of birds. Two-thirds of the park is taken up by the lake, whose waters are a hippo paradise! The lake’s grassy floodplains are dotted with large herds of buffalo, zebra, wildebeest and giraffe. If you are extremely lucky, you might even spot one of Manyara’s famous tree-climbing lions!!
Late afternoon, you will head to your accommodation in Karatu for your last night on the safari circuit.
DAY 5: Karatu – Arusha – Airport
After breakfast, we will head back to Arusha, with the possibility of making a stop along the way to see the famous wood carvings of the Makonde tribe, originally from southeastern Tanzania and northern Mozambique. A Makonde myth says that the mother of all of the Makonde was originally a wood carving that came to life!
We will have some lunch upon arrival in Arusha, before heading to the airport for your outbound flight.
