DAY 1: ArrivAL “Tanzania Family Safari Holiday”
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by your Tansafari Tours driver-guide, who will transfer you to your hotel in Arusha and brief you about your safari.
DAY 2: Arusha – Tarangire National Park
Your driver-guide will meet you at your hotel after breakfast and, together, you will head to Tarangire National Park with packed lunches for the first game viewing of your Tanzania safari. There is no better place to enjoy a peaceful authentic safari atmosphere than in Tarangire, famous for its huge elephant herds and towering baobab trees, which are sure to amaze the kids! The park is teeming with wildlife, and besides the ever-present elephants, you will have good chances of seeing zebras, lesser kudus, elands, gerenuks, and even lions. Late afternoon, after a great day in the wild, you will head to your accommodation in Karatu for dinner and overnight.
DAY 3: KARATU – Ngorongoro Crater
Today you will be visiting one of northern Tanzania’s gems, the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After an early breakfast, you will drive up to the crater rim, with its spectacular views. You will then descend the 600 meters (approximately 2,000 feet) into the crater floor for what promises to be an exciting day of wildlife encounters. If you are very lucky, you might have chances of seeing the elusive black rhino! Midday, you will stop for a picnic lunch at the hippo pool inside the crater, followed by more game viewing before heading back to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.
DAY 4: MTO WA MBU CULTURAL DAY
After breakfast, you will head to the local farming village of Mto Wa Mbu (“Mosquito River”), where you can enjoy a guided walk or bike ride. The village is considered unique in Tanzania in that it is estimated that all of Tanzania’s 120 tribes are represented there. The walk/bike ride will take you to see local farms, schools, a kindergarten, local homes, a local bar, the market, and milling machines. Afterward, you will enjoy a home-cooked Tanzanian lunch. Before leaving, you might also have a chance to see the famous wood carvings of the Makonde tribe. A Makonde myth says that the mother of all of the Makonde people was originally a wood carving that came to life! Late afternoon you will return to your accommodation in Karatu for dinner and overnight.
DAY 5: KARATU – AIRPORT
You have two options to choose from this morning: Either head to Lake Manyara National Park for game viewing and fun on the Manyara Treetop Walkway or visit an authentic Maasai village to learn about this famous tribe’s way of life. You will then be transferred to the airport for your return trip home or another onward destination.
